For over 38 years, Timothy M. Bittel has acted as lead counsel in the trial, arbitration and appeal of matters arising out of commercial, tort, intellectual property, labor & employment and real estate disputes, among others. Tim also has experience in disputes arising out of the insurance, financial services, medical device, food and maritime industries.
Tim has litigated and/or arbitrated claims across a range of professional services fields, having participated as an arbitrator or advocate in more than 900 disputes ranging up to $50 million. Additionally, he has an in-depth understanding of construction issues due to his longtime representation of contractors, owners, material suppliers and design professionals involved in projects in excess of $100 million. Tim is frequently called upon to provide outside counsel on litigation matters and with strategic planning.
Tim has served as special counsel to the Attorney General of Ohio and has tried cases in both federal and state courts representing defendants and plaintiffs in civil actions. He has argued appeals before the Ohio Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Sixth and Seventh Circuits, and various Ohio courts of appeal.
He is admitted to practice law in Ohio and Florida; before the United States Supreme Court; the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio; the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida; and the Sixth and Seventh United States Courts of Appeal.
Among his accomplishments, Tim is listed in the 2006 & 2007 editions of Ohio Super Lawyers, and is AV Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, its highest available rating for legal ability and professional ethics. Tim is also certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Advocacy, and has acted as an examiner of other attorneys seeking such certification. He is a longtime member of the American Arbitration Association and serves on the Large and Complex Case National Panel for the AAA.
